[edit] Overview
A regularly recurring character in Season 2, played by Robert Rusler, Lieutenant Warren Keffer was a member of the Starfury Zeta Squadron attached to Babylon 5. He was part of the fighter group deployed during the abortive battle between B5 and the renegade Minbari cruiser, Trigati. (S2E01, Points of Departure)
Lieutenant Keffer was a vocal officer who often provided counterpoint to the B5 command staff, all the while serving as one of the more capable Starfury fighter pilots on the station.
[edit] History
In early 2259, as a measure of his ability and the command staff's confidence in him, Lieutenant Keffer was appointed Squadron Commander of Zeta Squadron after the death of his superior, Lt. Commander Ray Galus. (S2E04, A Distant Star)
In December of 2259, Lieutenant Keffer was killed in action during an against-orders engagement with a Shadow vessel in hyperspace. (S2E22, The Fall Of Night)
[edit] Character Trivia
- JMS added Lt. Keffer to the list of main characters at the behest of Warner Bros., who wanted a Top Gun-esque fighter jockey to be part of the cast. He did so reluctantly, saying at the beginning of season 2 that, "I am going to kill this character."
