The final Shadow War took place in 2260 and 2261 between the Shadows and the Army of Light, one thousand years after the previous war against the Shadows.

The Shadows were old when even the Ancients were young. They battled one another over and over across a million years. The last great war against the Shadows was 10,000 years ago. It was the last time the Ancients walked openly among us. But the Shadows were only defeated, not destroyed. A thousand years ago, the Shadows returned to their places of power rebuilt them and began to stretch forth their hand. Before they could strike, they were defeated by an alliance of worlds including the Minbari and the few remaining First Ones who have not yet passed beyond the veil. -- Delenn (S2E16 In the Shadow of Z'ha'dum)

Although the Shadows had engaged in numerous anonymous raids, working behind the scenes through their minions, open hostilities commenced in mid 2260, when the Shadows first attacked Brakiri space without disguising their identity.

This war saw its end in early 2261 at Coriana 6, ending the wanton destruction of both of the Firstones: the Vorlons and the Shadows. All of the First Ones then departed Beyond the Rim (S4E06 Into the Fire).

This war left behind tens of dead worlds and races, and billions dead, as well as other races who helped the Shadows (such as the Drakh).
