Matthew Gideon and Sarah Chambers are recalled to Mars for a conference on the Drakh Plague, the security for which is headed by Babylon 5's Captain Elizabeth Lochley. The only problem: security isn't as secure as it should be, as conference attendees are being killed off.

There are two references to the American author Ray Bradbury on Mars: Bradbury Street and Dandelion Wine.
The number "666", a number associated with "the Devil", is the number entered into the bomb by Sacred Omega member Alain LeBecque.

"Ruling from the Tomb" is a title inspired by T.S. Elliot's quote: "Saint and martyr rule from the tomb."
