Commander Sinclair is replaced by an Earthforce officer reviled by the Minbari.

[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot, character development, or ending details follow.

Within three days of the President Santiago's assassination, Sinclair is recalled to Earth, and then dispatched to Minbar to take up residence as the first Earth ambassador to the Minbari.

Captain John Sheridan of the destroyer Agamemnon is assigned to take command of B5, which is at the same time visited by Kalain, commander of the renegade Minbari warship Trigati, which has been missing since its crew defied the Grey Council's sudden surrender order that ended the Earth-Minbari War over a decade before.

The Minbari protest the choice of Sheridan to command the station due to his service in the war, and Grey Council envoy Hedronn warns Sheridan of Kalain's presence and hostile intent. At the moment, though, Kalain has gone to Delenn's quarters to kill the cocooned ambassador. He is apprehended before he can do any harm.

Lennier reveals the reason for Sinclair's recall and the end of the war: the Grey Council believes that souls of Minbari are now being reincarnated as humans, Sinclair included.

The Trigati emerges through the jumpgate, ready to attack if Kalain is not released from custody. Sheridan, described by nearly every Minbari (except Delenn) as a dark omen for the hope of peace, faces the prospect of renewed bloodshed. (Attrib: B5 LogBook [1])
