Miranda Sheridan

Miranda Sheridan, who appeared for only a few seconds in S2E17 Knives, was the mother of John Sheridan and Elizabeth Sheridan, and the wife of David Sheridan snr. She is the mother-in-law of Delenn and the grandmother of David Sheridan jnr.

Miranda's single on-screen appearance was during a hallucination suffered by John Sheridan in 2259 while under the influence of the energy being controlling his body (S2E17 Knives). She appeared in a vision meant to represent 'home', standing next to the uncredited actor who played David Sheridan snr. prior to Rance Howard. Naturally, it wasn't a speaking part for either of the actors; their identity hasn't yet been discovered.

She was mentioned twice on screen by her family members, firstly in 2260 across a Gold Channel communication between Babylon 5 and Earth, just before the Battle for Babylon 5:

David: Your mother still thinks I make a better diplomat than a farmer.

John [chuckles]: Where is Mom?

David: Oh, she had to go into town. Errands to run. Some days I don't know what she does with her time. But if she's happy, I'm happy! Son... I see what's going on. Your mother doesn't like to think about it. You know how she is... Don't worry about us. Neighbours around here like us, and Lord knows why. So anybody comes for us, they're gonna have quite a fight on their hands...And I guess I'll talk to you when I talk to you.

John: Goodbye, Dad. Love to you both.

And secondly in 2261 just after David Sheridan snr. was released from custody by Clark-loyalist forces on Earth, just after the Earth Civil War (2260-61):

John: How's Mom?

David: They never got near her. She's with friends in Minneapolis.

Although never credited by name on screen, some people suggest that JMS referred to as such in one of his posts, however, this post has not yet been found. See Talk
