The leader of the Minbari Warrior Caste is dead and they honor his memory by going on a planet-to-planet memorial tour which stops at Babylon 5. Meanwhile, a young latent telepath discovers her abilities, causing a standoff between Ivanova and Talia over her future.

[edit] Synopsis

Spoiler warning: Plot, character development, or ending details follow.

A Minbari war cruiser arrives at Babylon 5, bringing the body of Shai Alyt Branmer, a legendary Minbari war leader and one of the Minbari heroes of the Battle of the Line. Garibaldi expresses concerns that the tour could be a prelude to a new surge of Minbari hostility.

Elsewhere on B5, a 12-year-old orphan, named Alisa Beldon, is caught trying to steal food in the Zocalo, but when she suddenly crumples to the ground clutching her head, Ivanova puts her under arrest, and at once a feud begins between the first officer and Talia, who reveals that the girl is an emerging telepath who should be trained by the Psi Corps, to which Ivanova objects in the strongest possible terms.

When the body of Branmer is brought to be viewed by the Minbari residents of B5, the casket is found to be empty, a horrible revelation that has Minbari representative Alyt Neroon - Brammer's devoted follower and first officer on the Line - threatening to re-ignite the Earth-Minbari War, with the first battle certain to take place at B5. (Attrib: B5 LogBook [1])

Alisa Beldon talks to Na'Toth, who attempts to persuade her to come to the Narn homeworld in order to provide genetic material for the Narn to breed telepaths. When Alisa looks into her mind, however, she is frightened by what she sees. When Talia and Ivanova begin fighting over her future yet again, Alisa asks to see more options. Ivanova takes her to see Delenn, who explains how Minbari telepaths live. During their discussion, Alisa looks into Delenn's mind and sees that it was she who took Branmer's body.

After Alisa informs Commander Sinclair of this, he and Garibaldi confront Delenn before she can send away his cremated remains. Delenn explains that she hoped to convince everyone that Branmer's disappearance was a true religious mystery. Sinclair convinces her that this can still happen if she can convince Neroon to go along with her story.

In Delenn's quarters, she orders Neroon to support her claim that Branmer's body left to join the gods. Neroon protests, but Delenn reveals that if he does not comply, his clan, the Star Riders, will be destroyed on the order of the entire Grey Council.

Alisa agrees to go to Minbar as a representative of Earth telepaths. There, she will learn to control her abilities and perhaps return to Earth in the future and teach other human telepaths what she learned. As she is leaving, Sinclair asks Alisa if she saw anything else while she was in Delenn's mind. She told him that she saw only one other thing; the world chrysalis.
