Joe Michael Straczynski (JMS) is perhaps best known for creating, writing, and producing Babylon 5, its' spinoff Crusade, and television movies. From 1994 through 1999 he worked diligently on Babylon 5, which resulted in Emmy Award and Hugo Award wins. Currently he is working on many projects, including being the writer of The Amazing Spider-Man (Marvel Comics).

JMS has produced five television movies and over two hundred television episodes, has written two fantasy/horror novels, has authored a dozen plays and over five hundred articles or short stories. During this entire time he has been a very active member of the online community where he has provided invaluable insights into his projects, politics, writing, the TV industry, and philosophy. He has not been shy about answering questions by his fans, as is evidenced by the extensive (and constantly increasing) archive of his newsgroup posts at JMSNews. His level of availability is unprecedented—never before has a writer/producer of a major television series interacted directly with fans at this level.
