Elric
From The Great Machine
Played by Michael Ansara
[edit] Summary
Elric, a technomage, appeared in the Season 2 episode, The Geometry of Shadows. He and a group of over 100 other technomages visited Babylon 5 en route to an undisclosed destination prior to the final Shadow War.
Elric's life and troubles, with apprentice Galen, the Shadow War, and the whole of the techno-mage order can also be seen in much greater detail in the Babylon 5 Book Trilogy, The Passing of the Techno-Mages.
[edit] Details
Elric visited Babylon 5 in 2259, with a large group of technomages.
During Elric's stay, Ambassador Londo Mollari schemed for a private audience with him, or any technomage who would see him. Nodding to the traditionalists, Londo wanted to send his homeworld a message: that he was blessed, and that the Centauri people, under his leadership, were ready to return to the golden days of the "mighty Centauri Republic." Elric, displeased with the number and character of Mollari's attempts, cast several "minor" retaliatory spells, which eventually drove Mollari to deliver the first apology we ever see from him in the series.
Mollari's antics aside, Elric's discussion with Captain Sheridan, and his monologue describing the technomages, is itself worth watching the episode.

Elric had a wasting disease and died shortly after arriving at the technomages' Hiding Place.
Elric's last apprentice, Galen, confirmed a mage just before the Shadow War, later returned to provide rather dubious aid to Captain Matthew Gideon, and the crew of the ISA Excalibur in the abortive B5 spin-off series, Crusade.
