Earth is the homeworld and birthplace of the Human race. Located in the Sol System, it is the third-closest planet of eight orbiting this star, and is the fifth-largest. Earth's surface is 72% salt water, with a Nitrogen (77%) / Oxygen (21%) atmosphere. The interior of the planet remains active, with a thick layer of molten mantle and an iron core that generates a magnetic field, which deflects particles in the solar wind.
Earth has one natural satellite, the Moon (or Luna), which revolves with the Earth around a common centre of mass. This relatively large Moon provides ocean tides and has gradually modified the length of the planet's rotation period.
The entire Earth contains approximately 75 billion tons of biomass.[1] Humans make up around 0.33% of this total.

An axial tilt of 23° to the ecplitic ensures moderate seasonal weather variations. Surface temperature ranges from -88°C to 58°C, while inhabited regions stay mostly within -10°C to 40°C. Precipitation patterns vary widely, ranging from several metres of water per year to less than a millimetre.

Earth's Human population reached 6 billion people by the mid-23rd century, down from 10 billion a century before.

After a catastrophic worldwide conflict from 2076-2084 (World War III), Earth was unified under the world government of the Earth Alliance in 2122.
The capital city of the Earth Alliance is Geneva, Switzerland.
Terrestrial members of the Earth Alliance include:
- the African Bloc,
- the Russian Consortium,
- the Western Bloc,
- the United Islamic Nations,
- and the Pacific Consortium.

Humanity first discovered it was not alone when a Centauri ship appeared in the sky in 2156.the Centauri came to earth Because they discoverd Hyperspace communication from Earth.The Earth Alliance leased time on Centauri jumpgates until they began to build their own.the first Extra-Solar colony was Proxima Centauri 3 on June 10 2164 but centauri had to be droped from the colonies name due to the newly discovery centuari race.
By 2165, Humans were colonizing the stars.
[edit] Interplanetary Wars
Earth was involved in several minor skirmishes, including colonial wars, before intervening victoriously in the Dilgar War. This was followed by almost utter anhiliation during the Earth-Minbari War after a botched First Contact. Luckily the Minbari surrendered at the moment of victory. Earth built the Babylon Project in the hope that such mistakes would never occur again.
Earth was not directly involved in (or largely aware of) the final Shadow War, due to the insular government of the time. Immediately afterwards, the first Earth Civil War (2260-61) toppled the government and led to the creation of the Interstellar Alliance.
In 2263, Earth was attacked by the Drakh, who released a nanotech virus into the atmosphere.
Five centuries later a second Earth Civil War (2762) (The Great Burn) scorched the planet and left most Humans in a pre-technological state. Agents of the Anla'Shok were eventually able to restore Humanity to their place in the galaxy.

About one million years after First Contact, Humans left Earth for the final time. Having evolved into First Ones, they caused Sol to go nova, preventing looting of the planet, and relocated to New Earth.
