The term "doomsday cult" is a generalization of groups who believe that doomsday ("the end of the world") is upon them. Some groups take a passive approach while others pursue an active interest in ensuring that doomsday occurs.

Some could be considered "religious," in that they believe that a deity wants a race or races destroyed.

The most notable doomsday cult is known as Sacred Omega, which uses tactics that are considered militant extremism. This consideration comes from the fact that members of the Sacred Omega have been known to kill, should it be the will of "God." (Ruling from the Tomb)
