Captain Sheridan is abducted by an alien race and is forced to fight for his life against his fellow prisoners.
[edit] Synopsis
Ships belonging to various races have been disappearing in B5's vicinity, and Sheridan decides to check the area out personally, despite the imminent arrival of General Hague, a member of Earthforce's Joint Chiefs of Staff.
At the same time, Delenn has been summoned to a meeting of the Grey Council to determine whether she merits membership in that body after her metamorphosis.
Sheridan is captured by a large, organic-looking vessel whose occupants do not show themselves, but simply conduct experiments on their prisoners, testing their endurance and their potential threat. Sheridan manages to free a Narn (later known as Ta'Lon) captive from the aliens' influence, while on B5 General Hague and Ivanova prepare to mount a rescue.
Delenn has been dismissed from the Grey Council, but is allowed to continue her role as the Minbari ambassador to B5 - and she has the key to retrieving Sheridan. (Attrib: B5 LogBook [1])
[edit] Main Plot
- Ambassador Delenn returns to the Grey Council, and learns that Alyt Neroon of the Star Riders Clan is to be her replacement on the Council, thereby breaking the balance between the castes and giving the Warrior Caste a 4-2 majority over the Religious Caste.
- Captain Sheridan is abducted and held captive aboard a mysterious alien vessel.
- General Hague arrives on Babylon 5, and is surprised that Sheridan isn't there. Shortly thereafter, one of the station's Starfury fighters returns, bearing a flight recording of Sheridan's capture. The pilot dies from radiation poisoning shortly afterward.
- Delenn returns to the station and learns that Sheridan is missing. She quickly identifies the enemy as the Streib and tells the station how to find their homeworld. General Hague brings in the EAS Agamemnon to assist in the hunt. When they find the Streib ship, it spaces its prisoners, then self-destructs.
- Aboard the Streib ship, Sheridan dreams a message from Kosh. Sheridan and his friend then manage to find their way to a life pod before the Streib crew, under the guns of a B5 search group, space their captives. He and the Narn are picked up by the B5 rescue crew.
- Kosh confirms to Sheridan that the dream was his, and that it was only the second time someone had entered a Vorlon song in that way.
- General Hague brings Sheridan into a conspiracy to find the truth about Santiago's death. Sheridan then brings Ivanova, Garibaldi, and Franklin into the conspiracy.
